Reflection seminar in May 2024

Here you find instructions for how to prepare for the seminar and the group schedule of the seminar. Before the seminar you also need to write a reflection document and read and comment other group members' reflection documents.

Preparations for the reflection

  • Read the blog post ChatGPT is Not a Technological Singularity by Daniel Lemire, computer science professor at the Université du Québec in Montreal.
https://cacm.acm.org/blogcacm/chatgpt-is-not-a-technological-singularity/ Links to an external site.
  • Read one of the following texts:
    1. Read the blog post What Do ChatGPT and AI-based Automatic Program Generation Mean for the Future of Software by Bertrand Meyer, professor at the Constructor Institute and CTO of Eiffel Software.
https://cacm.acm.org/blogcacm/what-do-chatgpt-and-ai-based-automatic-program-generation-mean-for-the-future-of-software/ Links to an external site.
    2. Read Abstract, Introduction and Documented connections between AI and the SDGs in: The role of artificial intelligence in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by Vinuesa et al. Nature Communications volume 11, Article number: 233 (2020)
https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-019-14108-y Links to an external site.
  • Read from the top up to and including the short explanation of the five major themes in The Future of Jobs and Jobs Training by Rainie and Anderson, Pew Research Center
https://www.pewresearch.org/internet/2017/05/03/the-future-of-jobs-and-jobs-training/ Links to an external site.
  • Read Abstract, Introduction, Results, Discussion and Conclusion (about 4 pages) in Investigating the skill gap between graduating students and industry expectations by Radermacher, Walia and Knudson, 36th International Conference on Software Engineering, Companion Proceedings.
