The seminar in period 4 has the title Future of Computer Science as a Profession.
Before you start writing your reflection you need to do the preparations.
The written reflection
Write a reflection document where you address the following points based on your preparations and your experience and expectations. The document should be 500-1000 words.
- With everyone using computers, what will the role of IT-experts be? Base the reflections on what you read in ChatGPT is Not a Technological Singularity and either What Do ChatGPT and AI-based Automatic Program Generation Mean for the Future of Software or The role of artificial intelligence in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as your own experience.
- What kind of skills will be valuable 10 years from now? Base the reflections on what you read in ChatGPT is Not a Technological Singularity, The Future of Jobs and Jobs Training and Investigating the skill gap between graduating students and industry expectations, as well as your own experience.
- Reflect on the skills and knowledge you have obtained during your degree. Do you believe that the skill gap identified in Investigating the skill gap between graduating students and industry expectations is applicable for you and your peers at KTH? Or do you believe there could be other skills you are lacking?
- If you believe you will be lacking skills when graduating, how do you think you will obtain these skills after graduating?
- If you do not believe you will be lacking skills when graduating, how would you motivate your success?
The document should be written as, or be converted to, a Google document. Set the permissions, so that everyone with the link will be allowed to comment the document. The following video shows how to do this:
If you do not want to use Google Docs for your text, there is an alternative described in the course memo.
Hand in the reflection
The link to your written reflection must be added to your group's Canvas page for this seminar before May 8 at 19:00.
First, check that you are logged in to Canvas (in the grey Canvas menu to the left). You can find your group page by clicking Groups/Grupper in the grey Canvas menu to the left, choose your group (named prosamm group X), click on Pages/Sidor and the page named "period 4 2023/2024: Future of computer science as a profession". Then edit this page, adding a line consisting of your name and course offering (prosamm23 or prosamm22) at the end of the document, and make this line link to your Google document by using the chain icon and entering the URL of the Google document. Then save the page. Be careful not to change or remove anything on the page that anyone else has written.
You will also need to read and comment on the other group members' reflections.
Fill in the evaluation questionnaire that will be emailed to you
May 17, you will get an email with a link to the questionnaire. The questions are about your perceptions of the program integrating course, your studies and the education. The questionnaire, which is mandatory and anonymous, should be filled in before May 29, at 19:00.
Have you missed anything in this course?
This is the final seminar of the academic year. If you look at your results in Grades/Omdömen in Canvas you should have "1" for each of the three tasks for each seminar: reflection document, comments and seminar, in order to pass the course. (For prosamm22, the results from 2022/2023 can be found in the old course room.) If you missed anything, you will need to read the instructions on how to fix this. If a result has not been reported correctly, you should contact your mentor for that seminar.
When you have "1" for each of the seminar tasks and have answered the mandatory questionnaire, you will get the Ladok component of the year (UPP1 for year 1 and UPP2 for year 2), worth 1 credit, reported.
