Reflection document, period 2 2022/2023

  • Due 24 Nov 2022 by 19:00
  • Points 1
  • Available after 16 Nov 2022 at 11:00

Before you write your reflection you should do the preparations.

The written reflection

Write a reflection document where you address the following points based on your study visit and the preparations. Make sure that you bring up both positive and negative aspects. The document should be 500-1000 words.

  • Give a short description of the company and the visit. Did you learn anything new that you did not know before? Reflect upon why it was new to you.
  • (only for year 2) Compare what you learned from the study visit last year with this one.
  • What can I / we do to have a more inclusive environment at KTH / in the workplace?
What advantages / disadvantages can a more inclusive environment entail?
You may give examples of problems that you have experienced at KTH, regarding accessibility, treatment etc.
  • What skills do you consider most important for working effectively in a multicultural workplace?
  • How are the issues of gender equality, diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities connected to the sustainable development goals adopted by the United Nations Member States?
  • What happens if we do not find out what rules apply and do not reflect on these issues in working life? What could be the consequences for yourself and others?
  • Finally, write a paragraph where you reflect on the courses you are currently taking and the courses (or degree project) that you have chosen/will choose to take next semester.

The document should be written as, or be converted to, a Google document. Set the permissions, so that everyone with the link will be allowed to comment the document. The following video shows how to do this:

If you do not want to use Google Docs for your text, there is an alternative described in the course memo.

Hand in the reflection

The link to your written reflection must be added to your group's Canvas page for this seminar before November 24 at 19:00.

First, check that you are logged in to Canvas (in the grey Canvas menu to the left). You can find your group page by clicking Groups/Grupper in the grey Canvas menu to the left, choose your group (named prosamm group X), click on Pages/Sidor and the page named "period 2 2022/2023: Diversity and inclusion in the workplace". Then edit this page, adding a line consisting of your name and course offering (prosamm21 or prosamm22) at the end of the document, and make this line link to your Google document by using the chain icon and entering the URL of the Google document. Then save the page. Be careful not to change or remove anything on the page that anyone else has written.

You will also need to read and comment on the other group members' reflections before November 28, 13:00.
