AI Policy – SF2975 Financial Mathematics
This course makes use of modern digital tools, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), in a responsible and transparent way. The purpose of this policy is to clarify how AI may and may not be used in connection with this course.
General Principles
-
AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar systems) may support your learning but cannot replace your own independent work.
-
When you use AI tools, you must critically evaluate their output and take full responsibility for the results.
-
All submitted work must reflect your own understanding. Misuse of AI counts as academic misconduct.
Use of AI in Exercises and Assignments
-
You may use AI tools to:
-
Check definitions or recall basic facts.
-
Explore examples and simulations (e.g. Python code for option pricing).
-
Generate alternative explanations when studying the lecture material.
-
-
You must not use AI tools to:
-
Automatically generate complete solutions to exercises or assignments.
-
Submit AI-generated text or code without verification and understanding.
-
Use of AI in Exams
-
Unless explicitly stated, AI tools are not permitted during examinations. Exams are to be solved independently.
-
Any violation will be treated according to KTH’s rules for disciplinary matters.
Recommended Approach
-
Use AI as a study companion, not as an answer machine.
-
Always double-check results using lecture notes, textbooks, and your own reasoning.
-
If in doubt about acceptable use, ask the course coordinator or assistant.
