This is a mandatory assignment required for passing the course. The student should arrange to be the opponent at the public discussion of another student presenting a second-cycle degree project.
The student shall prepare a written review ("opposition report") of the thesis report, and carry out an oral public discussion at the other student's presentation. The opposition report shall be uploaded in Canvas before the presentation. After the presentation the student should send the opposition report and eventual other comments to the opposed student.
The opposition will be assessed by the examiner of the presenting student.
The aim of the opposition report is two-fold:
As an opponent, you should demonstrate that you fulfill the learning outcome that you are able to "reflect on and critically review [...] others' scientific achievements".
For the presenter, it is an opportunity to demonstrate their ability to address constructive criticism by considering opponent feedback when preparing the final version of the thesis.
This means that the opposition should focus on suggesting, in relative detail, improvements that would improve the thesis, as well as both identifying its strengths.
