Local examination rules - introduction
The purpose of this module is to provide you with knowledge of and reflection on KTH's rules and guidelines regarding courses, examinations, and the role and responsibility of examiners. You will then benefit from what you have learned in the previous modules.
The module has three quizzes you can retake as often as you like. You need to score at least 6 out of 8 on the first quiz, 4 out of 6 on the second, and 13 out of 16 on the last to pass the module.
KTH's rules regarding examinations and the role of examiners
There are a number of laws, regulations, rules, and guidelines that govern the university's activities. The more general laws and regulations have been introduced to you during module 2. In addition to the national and general rules, there are also local regulations and guidelines at KTH. Examples of such documents are governance documents, programme syllabuses (utbildningsplaner), and course syllabuses (kursplaner). Programme syllabuses and course syllabuses are regulations and are therefore binding rules that apply generally.
The course memo (kurs-PM) is also an important document describing the details of how a course is run, but it does not have the same status as the course syllabus, and has not to be published until the start of the course.
Before proceeding further in the module, take out the following two documents and skim through both so you can quickly find answers to the questions that come later in the module.

Course syllabus, grading system, and examination at education on all cycles
- Guideline on written on-campus exam
There are also other guidelines and instructions among KTH's governing documents. A complete list can be found on the following pages:
