The aim of the Qualification course for examiners is to acquire or update your knowledge of the current rules and guidelines governing examinations and the role of the examiner in order to be able to act correctly as an examiner. During the course, you will learn more about legal certainty, outcome-based, assessment of equal value, and become familiar with KTH's local regulations regarding course syllabuses and examinations.

Learning outcomes

After passing the course you should as an examiner be able to:

  • act in accordance with applicable laws and KTH guidelines
  • seek out and apply the rules that apply to summative assessments at KTH.

The qualification course for examiners is also suitable for staff and study representatives who want to know which rules apply to examiners and examinations at KTH.

Pedagogical structure

The course is web-based and all teaching takes place via the Canvas learning platform. You do it at your own pace and it is open to all employees at KTH. The course consists of four modules that are taken in turn. Each module contains videos or presentations and at least one quiz. The modules are deliberately designed in different ways so that you can see different examples of how online courses can be set up. Expect the whole course to take two hours to complete. Each module is accompanied by suggestions for further reading.

Your quiz results are saved continuously in Grades. You can leave the course room temporarily and come back later to continue.

Eligibility

A passing grade on all quizzes in the course is required to be eligible to be an examiner at KTH.
