Assessment of equal value: introduction
What is meant by assessment of equal value? What do I need to take into account? What is my responsibility as an examiner?
We have chosen assessment of equal value as the collective heading for this module, but it could also have been called e.g. assessment on equal terms or non-discriminatory assessment. What we mean here by assessment of equal value is a summative assessment that is, as far as possible, beneficial to all, takes into account accessibility, equality, diversity, and equal conditions (JML), where no one is unfairly favoured or disadvantaged because of their background, personal characteristics or identities, and that we work consciously and actively to ensure that this does not happen.
The aim of this module is to provide you with knowledge and reflection on assessment of equal value and the role and responsibilities of the examiner. The module includes short presentations and some reading and videos to listen to before moving on to the embedded control questions. You need to get all 9 marks on the first test, at least 4 out of 5 on the second and at least 2 out of 3 on the third test to pass this module. At the end of the module, there is a page with links to further reading.
