Welcome
This year, lab assignments are being migrated to KTH Canvas, so please follow the links here, or via your navigation bar.
Course Outline
This is a short course that runs in the first three weeks of P1. The aim is to become comfortable with the KTH computing environment, use different software tools that other courses will use, and check that your account is functioning correctly.
Lectures
There are three short lectures for F and SVD students, whilst D students will have a single longer lecture. As ever, check your timetable so you know where you should be. If in doubt, ask the welcome team or post a message in the comments section of this page.
Labs
Besides the lectures, there are three laboratory sessions to attend. In these labs, you will attempt to complete some basic assignments. These should not be too challenging, but are important to test that your account is working as expected, and that you are familiar with the environment. All of these labs will have members of the welcome team, as well as other lab assistants to help with any problems.
Assignments
To complete this course, you must have completed two labs, and these must be approved by a lab assistant. Once you have completed a lab, ask an assistant to sign off your progress. Please keep a copy of the receipt you get (taking a photo is a good idea). The assignments are structured as follows:
Module 1: Bash and Operating System
This module will help you become familiar with the KTH computing environment. Bash is a command line environment in which you type commands and the operating system will perform them. If you have never used this form of controlling a computer before, it is important to learn. It consists of several assignments that should be followed and completed. All instructions are contained in the assignment descriptions.
This module is mandatory and must be completed

Module 2: Github
This module will introduce you to managing your work using KTH Github. This is a version control system that several courses use to manage student work. Every student has an account and you can use it for any project work. There is a single assignment that should be followed and completed. All instructions are contained in the assignment description.
This module is optional, but you must pick one option.

Module 3: LaTeX
This module will introduce you to creating professional quality typeset reports. This software helps create complex technical documents (like a dissertation) and is widely used at KTH. There is a single assignment that should be followed and completed. All instructions are contained in the assignment description.
This module is optional, but you must pick one option.
