Seminar period 3 2021/2022: International opportunities and contexts

  • Due No due date
  • Points 1
  • Available after 1 Feb 2022 at 10:00

Here you find instructions for how to prepare for the seminar and the group schedule of the seminar. Before the seminar you also need to write a reflection document and read and comment other group members' reflection documents.

Preparations for the reflection

  • There will be new groups based on (sub)tracks during the seminars in period 3 and 4. We used the track quiz that you answered in December to fill the groups. Find your new group number in the course in Grades/Omdömen in Canvas. Also look up here who is the mentor of your group. All groups are full, so there is no opportunity to switch group.
  • The ability of working in international contexts is mentioned in the intended learning outcomes of the Master's programme, both in the national qualitative targets and the Master programme's objectives. Review both these sources to find what is actually being said.
  • Read about doing the degree project abroad.
  • Browse through (just look at a few entries) a list of open jobs for software developers in Europe Links to an external site..
  • Conferences for software developers are often international. To get a fun and inspiring taste of an international professional community, watch this promotional video Links to an external site. for Jfokus Links to an external site., one of the largest Java developer conferences worldwide, which takes place in Stockholm every year.
  • KTH recruits students from many countries. Study these maps which show some statistics on where the students are coming from.

Group schedule

Find your group number in the table below and look up when and where your seminar will be. The seminar is about 50 minutes, and it is important to be on time. Notice the odd starting times (10 minutes past)!

The seminar will be a walking seminar, starting from the meeting place.

If you absolutely can not participate in the walking seminar, for example because you are sick or belong to a risk group and can not get to Campus, a Zoom seminar is offered as an alternative, see below.
