Crazyflie hardware SSD
An external 500GB Samsung T5 SSD is given to each group. It has Ubuntu 16.04 installed like described here Linux Installation. It will allow you to make use of all your computer's resources without having to make changes to your computer.
We actually use less than 250GB of the as it was intended to use a 250GB disk but were unable to acquire enough of them for all groups. The disk have three partitions.
- EFI (boot partition)
- 200GB / where Linux is installed
- 16GB swap
Booting
- Make sure the computer is turned off
- Connect the disk to the computer. For performance reasons it MUST be a USB3 port.
- Needless to say you should not pull out the disk until you have shut down your computer.
- Power on and press whatever button your computer uses for you to get into the boot menu.
-
On a PC:
For example, on an Intel NUC it would look like below. Here you would press F10.
You are looking for an entry with the keyword UEFI and the name of the disk "Samsung T5". -
On a Mac (only works on "older" Macs without additional tweaks
Links to an external site.):
You press and hold down the alt/option key immediately after powering on. You should then see your normal Mac disk and an Ubuntu icon representing your external disk. Click the Ubuntu 16.04.3 icon and press the arrow to boot from it.
-
On a PC:
- After selecting the disk, you get to the grub menu (see below) where you either just wait or press ENTER to select the top alternative. On the disk you get there are a few more alternatives but only the first two valid in your case.
After this you should see a bunch of printout on the screen telling you that stuff is happening and eventually you should get to the log in screen. - Log in as robot with password robot (which you should change immediately)
