All use of generative AI is prohibited in the course's examination and graded assignments.

Writing C++ often requires attention to small details, and code that may compile is not necessarily correct. With AI, it is too easy to blindly accept code that looks correct (and may well be). As such, one misses out developing a deep "symbol-by-symbol" understanding that is required to write C++ effectively.

The ban on generative AI means that

All examination and graded assignments must be carried out without the help of generative AI.
All submissions must be completely human-generated.

You as a student are fully responsible for all material you submit and must be able to defend and explain it completely without the support of generative AI.

Disciplinary action for unauthorized use of AI

Everything you submit must be your own work. Using generative AI in the course's examination and graded assignments is considered unauthorized assistance and may result in disciplinary action.

Addendum on code completion

All modern C++ IDEs have code completion capabilities. For the purposes of this course, such features (unless AI-assisted) do not count as "generative AI" and are thus OK to use (and even encouraged!).

For users of Jetbrains CLion, the "Full Line code completion" feature is AI-assisted and should thus be turned off. See https://www.jetbrains.com/help/clion/full-line-code-completion.htm for documentation on how to disable this feature.

If you have questions whether a component of your IDE or some other tool counts as "generative AI," please ask the teachers.
