Course blocks. We will probably remove one of these blocks, depending on the number of students participating.

 

  1. Variations of iterative methods and their convergence. Convergence: right-hand side dependence bounds. Bounds with eigenvalues/pseudospectra. Flexible GMRES. Left, right, preconditioners.
  2. General purpose preconditioners: Diagonal. Gauss-Seidel. SOR, Jacobi, Incomplete LU
  3. Topic: preconditioning for Helmholz equation
  4. Topic: Domain decomposition
  5. Multigrid. Algebraic and geometric multigrid / multilevel
  6. Topic: Saddle point problems, Schur complement, and KKT-systems (optimization)

 

Interesting topics which are probably not included above: H-matrices. Parallellization. shifted,. support graph preconditioners, graph and mesh partitioners?, Toeplitz and Circulant preconditioners
