6. Talking about the weather

In Sweden, you often comment on the weather when you meet. Here are some weather expressions that are good to know.

– Vad är det för väder? (What is the weather like?)

Det blåser. (It is windy.)

Det regnar. (It is raining.)

Det är kallt. (It is cold.)

Det snöar. (It is snowing.)

Det haglar. (There is hail.)

Det åskar och blixtrar. (There is thunder and lightning.)

Det är dimma. (It is foggy.)

Det är molnigt. (It is cloudy.)

Det är mulet. (It is overcast.)

Det är varmt. (It is hot.)

Det är sol./Det är soligt./Solen skiner. (It is sunny. The sun is shining)

– Hur många grader är det? (How hot is it?)

Det är plus 25 grader. (It is 25 degrees.)

Det är minus 25 grader. (It is minus 25 degrees.)

– Vad varmt det är! (How hot it is.)

– Vad kallt det är! (How cold it is.)

– Vad skönt det är! (How nice it is.)

– Vilket väder! (The expression can be about both good and bad weather.)
