Which sounds are reduced in speech?

Pronunciation and spelling are not always the same thing. Unstressed syllables are pronounced quickly. You sort of "hurry past" them. This means that you do not pronounce all the sounds and that the words are not pronounced as they are written, but merge together. Listen again to some of the sentences in the dialogue! Pay special attention to the reductions in this recording, which are in brackets. The words in bold are stressed.

Listen and compare the spelling of the words and the written pronunciation under it. Say the sentences together with the recorded voice.
