The exam is compulsory for master students and PhD students as well.

Exam registration

To register for the exam, fill in this quiz, before Feb 24: Exam registration. Note, the quiz asks also for time slots when you are not available.

The exam will be organized in four timeslots, 8-10, 10-12, 13-15, 15-17.

Exam setup

The exam starts with a written part of 30 minutes, for all the students scheduled for that timeslot. This is followed by an oral examination of ca 15 minutes for each student one by one. The written and the oral parts together define the grade.

Written part

The written part is compulsory to pass the course. You get three questions to solve for the written part. You get 1 point for complete solution, and 0.5 for good attempts.

The grade based on the written part can be:
0-1 points: F,
1.5-2 points: E,
2.5-3 points: D.

You can participate in the oral part if and only if you pass the written part, that is, has at least 1.5 points.

Oral part

In the oral part you get three questions, one related to each of the written problems. These questions require higher level of knowledge. You increase your grade with 0, 1, 2, or 3 grades, based on the number of questions you can answer. As a result, you get A if you have correct solution for all the written problems, and can answer all the questions in the oral part. The oral part is not compulsory.

You could get 0.5 or 1 point for the oral questions. These points are added to the oral part, if you passed that. You get one point if you answer the questions without additional help from the examiner. You get 0.5 point if you need help.

Final grading

0-1: F; 1.5-2: E; 2.5-3: D; 3.5-4: C; 4.5-5: B; 5.5-6: A

Allowed aids

This is a closed book exam. You can bring calculator and a math handbook (this is probably not necessary).

We will provide the formula sheet, the Laplace transforms table and the Erlang table that you know from the course homepage.
