Fundamental information about the report

Formatting and the KTH cover

Although there is no strict template for the thesis report, please follow a general formatting style adopted in kexjobb reports to date (e.g. some previous reports). These are formatting examples, for the recommended structure and other formalities please read below.

Importantly, since your reports are going to be uploaded to the register of KTH publications (DiVA), it is necessary for your cover (like a book cover: the very first page (front) and the very last page (back)) and front page (the actual second page, after the front cover page) to follow a specific format. As for the KTH cover, you should generate it using the engine under the following address: http://intra.kth.se/kth-cover/. You can choose either the English or Swedish template and enter all the relevant details:

  • subject area Computer Science and Engineering (so that you get Degree Project in Computer Science and Engineering, First Cycle, 15 credits) in English or datateknik (Examensarbete inom datateknik, grundnivå, 15 hp) in Swedish)
  • thesis title (potentially also subtitle)
  • your names (the authors)
  • make sure it is all in black font (not grey)
  • ignore TRITA number on the second page for now.

As a result, you obtain the very first and the very last pages in Word (doc) format so please convert it to pdf and incorporate accordingly into your thesis report (the front cover page as the very first and the back cover as the very last page in the resulting pdf document).

Since the KTH cover does not include the examiner's and supervisor's names, you should also have the front page, which is  another opening page inside the thesis where these details can be included. Here Download Here is a Word doc template for this (with yellow markings to enter text). You can edit this "second" front page in Swedish too, then please use "Examensarbete inom datateknik, grundnivå, 15 hp" instead of "Degree Project in Computer Science and Engineering, First Cycle, 15 credits".

Finally, it is required to include a Swedish version of abstract and title irrespective of the chosen language of the thesis (if the chosen language is English, there should also be abstract in English besides sammanfattning in Swedish). All reports should also have an English title. The title in the other language than the language of your thesis (for Swedish reports English titles are meant here and vice versa) could be placed on the aforementioned opening front page (after the first cover page). Here you can find the thesis report that serves as a suitable example in this regard.
