KS Quiz 2 (with the question content on a different page)

This is a mock webpage for the KS quiz. The real KS Quiz 2 is conducted on 24.09.2024 with the support of a separate dedicated Canvas room for the partial exam Quiz 2 / KS2.  You MUST register for KS in advance through a dedicated portal (examination). This cannot be arranged by the examiner.

Before the exam

Before your exam begins read through the instructions from the examiner.

Please bring also pen and paper to take notes - it may be helpful (mobile devices, phones laptops or even simple hand calculators will not be allowed).

When the examination begins the material for the exam will be available over at Assignments (Uppgifter).

Important: Read instructions from the examiner carefully as only submissions following the instructions will be graded.

The design of the exam

This is the first graded quiz in the course and accounts for the material covered in lectures L5-L7a (RBF, CL, SOM, LVQ, Hopfield networks).

It consists of a single Code of Conduct/Hederskodex question and the proper set comprising the remaining 8 questions. You should first respond to the Code of Conduct quiz to confirm that you have read and agreed to comply with the Code of Conduct. Then you can proceed to the KS Quiz.

The overall partial examination (KS) takes place at 13 and 14 (depending on group allocation) on Sep 24, 2024 in dedicated labs, Glader, Kloker, Prosit, Toker. This time we need to perform a more direct assignment scheme so please follow the instructions below:

  • funka students and PhD students should start their quiz in room Glader at 13:15,
  • remaining students should choose either XQ23 or XQ25 at
    • 13:15 if your surname starts with letter M or consecutive letters in the alphabet, i.e. N, O, ..., Z
    • 14:15 for students whose surname starts with letters prior to M in the alphabet, i.e.  A, B, ..., L.

Still, you may be redirected to another room if the capacity is exceeded. You have 45 minutes to complete the quiz and submit it (13:15-14:00 or 14:15-15:00). Bear in mind that within the given 45 minutes you can make two attempts (change your answers even if the quiz has already been submitted). Funka students will be offered extra 15 minutes to complete the quiz. Importantly, please remain quiet after finishing your quiz and leave the examination room asap, especially if you are in the 1pm group since we need to effectively let in a new group of students to the room.

The quiz is a mixture of different types of questions (most questions have multiple possible answers where an incorrect answer is penalized; still the final score for each question is always greater or equal to zero). In particular:

  • free-text (essay) type questions: manual grading
  • multiple-answer questions: each correct choice is awarded a certain fraction of max score and each incorrect choice subtracts the same fraction, no choice is neutral; overall, the minimum number of points per the entire question is 0 as there are no negative scores
  • true/false (drop-down menu) questions: each correct option is awarded a proportional fraction of the max score intended for the question.

Since there may be a question that requires hand calculations (even if you are requested just to type in your answer in the quiz) please bring a pen and paper for taking notes. You can also bring a simple hand calculator (but not a mobile phone). Using any other sources is considered as a breach of the Code of Conduct.

In order to pass the quiz you need to score at least 11 out of max 16 points available in 8 questions (Code of Conduct question does not belong to the pool of 8 graded questions).

For any concerns during the quiz please refer to the person supervising the quiz (TA or a teacher).

Importantly, make sure that you positively answer the Code of Conduct / Hederskodex question to make a formal statement about complying with the Code of Conduct. Without confirming that you obey the code your quiz will not be subject to assessment (it implies failed partial exam/KS).

This is an individual assignment and any attempt to seek help from someone else or even discuss the ongoing quiz with someone else, it is considered as a serious breach of the code of conduct.

After the exam

Once the exam has been graded you will find your results in a list over at Grades.
