Assess funders and collaborative parties

To assess the context in which the research activities take place may be a fast and even implicit process if the research is done at well-known and uncontroversial venues together with funders and collaborative parties with well-established reputation. At other times, a more careful and systematical approach must be had in order to assess counterparts in order to avoid future problems.

One aim is to assess trustworthiness, but as important is to identify differences that may lead to later conflicts. For example, to agree, in writing, on which contributions should found for co-authorship may prevent unnecessary conflicts.
