Peer review questions for Seminar 2: Results and Discussions

Consider these questions:

  • Whole structure: Are the Results presented in a logical order (e.g. chronological, general-to-specific, or most important to least important?
  • Explanations: Are figures, results etc. explained to the reader?
  • Are contrasts and surprising details highlighted? (Look for words and phrases like only, more than... surprisingly high, deviates from, ranges from ... to ...)
  • Connection: Are figures and tables mentioned in the text in suitable ways?
  • Structure of paragraphs: One paragraphs – one idea?
  • Are results presented in Results, and discussed in Discussion?

If there is time, discuss language and style as well:

  • Is the style appropriate?
  • Are there sentences that are too "chatty" or too complex and formal?
  • Is there a good "given-to-new" information structure? (Sentences should begin with something already known or mentioned, and then move to something new.)
