Check list for new students

Welcome to the Joint Master's Programme in Mathematics!

The program is run jointly between SU and KTH. This means that two different administrations are involved that each follow different procedures. This checklist collects information about such procedures, covering, e.g., course registration, course transfers, degree projects, etc. 

August 21, 2025: Information meetings
8:30-9:00:  Coffee. KTH, Lecture room F2
9:00-10:00: Introductory meeting for all new Master students at the SCI school at KTH. KTH, Lecture room F2
13:00-15:00: Introductory meeting for all new Master students in mathematics. SU, Lecture room 1, Building 1, Albano

Immediately afterwards: 

Make a study plan, starting with the present term. Your study plan lists the courses Links to an external site. that you would like to take, starting with mandatory courses Links to an external site. in the Basic Block and the Broadening Block, then conditionally elective (Profile block), and then elective (Broadening block), finishing with your degree project. Bear in mind that you can register for a maximum of 30 credits/semester (total, from both universities). Discuss the plan with Tilman/Salvador during the meeting. You may make changes to the study plan later.

August 22, 2025, 10:00 am: Deadline for course selection

Fill out the initial course registration form (a link will follow). If you miss this deadline, you may miss the chance to take any courses this semester!

By September 1, 2025: Confirm your course selection for KTH courses by registering.

A course registration indicates your intention to attend the course that you have been admitted to. Registration is necessary so that you can get access to the course in Canvas, register for exams and your results can be reported. It is also a prerequisite in order to obtain student aid which is paid out by CSN. 

This extra step is not needed for SU courses.

August 25, 2025: First day of classes at KTH

September 1, 2025: First day of classes at SU

For courses you take in subsequent semesters, the registration procedure is a different one.
