Final exam

The Final exam

The Final exam will consist of two parts: Part 1 and the Main part.  The possible grades for Part 1 are Pass or Fail. A student must have a Pass on Part 1 in order to be able to participate in the Main part of the exam. The final grade in the course (A-F) comes from the Main part of the exam.

Part 1

Part 1 tests the basic knowledge. It consists of six multiple choice/answers questions, one for each module. Each question gives one mark; 4 marks is enough to pass this part of the exam. You can find a model Part 1 exam here.   ´

There is a possibility of passing Part 1 in advance by participating in the continuous examination, i.e., weekly Seminar Quizzes (more information here). Each of the six quizzes can give 2 points; the total amount of points earned at quizzes is divided by 2 and rounded up. This gives the number of bonus points for the exam. For example, 7 quiz points gives 4 bonus points.

If a student has at least 3 bonus points, then Part 1 is considered as passed. This student does not have to write Part 1, and can come directly to the Main part of the exam.

Please note that  Part 1  does not generate any bonus points.

The Main part

The Main part of the exam is graded at the scale A--F. Old exams give a good idea of the layout and the level of this test.

Bonus points earned at the seminars are used as additional marks for this part.  Namely, they are added to the total score of Part A of the exam (up to 12 marks in total for this part). For example, if you earned 9 marks for Part A of the exam, and you had 4 bonus points, then you get 12 marks for Part A of the exam.
