Grading
Grade location
The grades will be given and reported in Canvas directly as numerical scores. For labs, we use 1 for Pass (=E) and higher numbers for higher grades (5 for A).
Grading scheme
Details will be explained in the first lecture.
There are three components in this course:
- The lab assignments (three large and one small graded lab). The final lab grade will be the average of the three large labs, with extra points from the small lab as bonus. Note that all four labs have to be passed to pass the course.
- A final report and presentation. The presentations will be uploaded and viewed online. Each group has to provide some comments on other presentations.
- A written exam.
To obtain the full points in a lab, a submission has to be on time. This means that groups who failed the first attempt (when the first deadline for an assignment is due) will have a chance at the end of the course to get up to four points ("B"), but not five points ("A"). Not submitting a practice assignment on time will also reduce the maximum number of points that can be given to a group by one, so missing several deadlines will have a corresponding impact on being able to obtain higher grades.
If an assignment was submitted on time but a mandatory item in the solution was incorrect, this will reduce the maximum number of points by 0.5 points for each incorrect item, up to a maximum of 1.0 points.
