Grading criteria

Within the subject of discrete mathematics as described by the course syllabus, the student must be able to do the following:

For Grade E:

  • Solve simple problems that may also require explaining the meaning of basic concepts and theorems.

For Grade C, in addition:

  • Solve more advanced problems within some part of the course content, including problems of a theoretical nature.

For Grade A, in addition:

  • Solve more advanced problems within several parts of the course content, including problems of a theoretical nature.

Assessment criteria

The following criteria apply to all assessments:

For full marks on a problem, the solution must be well-presented and easy to follow. This means in particular that all introduced variables are explained, that the logical structure is clearly presented in words or symbols, and that the reasoning is well-motivated and clearly written.

Solutions lacking these qualities will be awarded a maximum of 2 points. Minor calculation errors generally do not result in deductions of points unless they change the nation of the problem or result in noticeable inconsistencies.

Supplementary exam

If you receive the grade Fx, there is an opportunity to upgrade this to a passing grade by taking a supplementary exam shortly after the regular exam. This opportunity will also be available after the re-exam.

Registration for the exam

Registration for the exam is mandatory and takes place via Mina sidor. If you have problems accessing the course via Mina sidor, you should contact the student office to check that you have been registered for the course.

If you have already passed the course but would like to improve your grade, you cannot register for the exam via Mina sidor and you must instead register via a special form at the student office.
