Grading

Grade location

The grades will be given and reported in Canvas directly.

Grading scheme

There will be four grades in the course; they are the result of mini-projects done in groups. Each grade can be:

- F: Fail (so bad that the course is failed). For example, if nothing is done.
- Fx: Fail with a chance of trying again later during the course.
- P: Pass.
- P+: Pass with distinction.

The final course grade is then composed of all four parts. Each part has to be passed (so a P+ cannot compensate for Fx or F). Each distinction earns an extra grade level. "All P" results in a final grade of E. An A is awarded to those that have P+ for each lab.

To pass with distinction, a submission has to be on time. This means that groups who failed the first attempt (when the first deadline for an assignment is due) will have a chance at the end of the course to get a "P", but not a "P+".

Below table illustrates the composition of final grade:

Course grade scheme: all pass (4P) = E, one grade higher per "P+"
Lab Grades Final Grade
4P+  A
1P AND 3P+   B
2P AND 2P+ C
3P AND 1P+ D
4P  E
 Failure in any Lab Failure

Grading scheduling

  • Grading scheduling is done by filling the group name in the appropriate shared spreadsheet, it must be done at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Groups who fail to sign up by that deadline will have to present at the "re-exam session", which is the 12th and last lab session in the schedule.
  • All group members must attend the grading session in order to have a better discussion.
  • Rescheduling is only possible if asked by email at dd2480@kth.se 24 hours in advance.
  • Generally rescheduled grading can be arranged within ±2 days compared to the original date.
  • If the grading is after the original deadline, the deliverables still have to be submitted by the original deadline.
  • Rescheduling only works for good reasons, like time conflicts with other courses, exchange students who is not at KTH during the grading session, etc.
  • Rescheduling due to sick leave is must be announced by email to dd2480@kth.se (visible to the teachers and TAs) as soon as possible.

For whom doesn’t contribute to the assignment (like some late registered students, or someone the group leader can’t get in touch with), we will assign the student to a new team, who will do the assignment in the end of the course.
