Procedure

One part of the master thesis projects is the opposition.

This peer-review process is an opportunity for you to practice how to familiarize yourselves with someone elses work and provide constructive critisism. On the other hand, it is also an opportunity to get somebody elses opinion on your results and on how they are presented, providing you with a chance to improve the end result.

Procedure

  1. The respondent sends a preliminary report to the opponent. The preliminary report should be relatively complete so that the opponent may understand better what is the aim, means, methods, results, et.c. and can provide useful feedback. The opponent should send their constructive criticism to the respondent and a copy to the examiner.
  2. When the respondents receives the feedback, it should be evaluated and the respondents should decide how they can use the feedback in the best way. It should be noted that the respondents may use the feedback as they see fit, they are responsible for their report. When the feedback has been considered a meeting (call, chat, IRL) should be set up between the repondent and opponent where the respondents describe changes made to the report and short motivations. This is also an opportunity to discuss and clarify issues that may have been unclear.
  3. The respondent sends an email notification to the examiner that their mission as repondents has been completed.
  4. The opponent sends an email notification to the examiner that their mission as opponents has been completed.
  5. We encourage the opponent to attend the final presentation of the respondent, but it is not obligatory. In fact, we encourage attendace to as many final presentations as possible.
