this lecture we will explore the concepts of electrons and holes in semiconductors.

We will:

- define density of states, and effective density of state

- use the definition of the Fermi level

- analyze the Fermi level as a function of doping and temperature

- look at the charge balance

The final results will be a derivation of the drift current (in an electric field).
