Exam
Exam information for HT 2021:
The examination in the course consists of:
+ Homework (with peer review) and seminars, given an overall grade of P/F.
+ An essay assignment at the end of the course, graded F, Fx, E, D, C, B or A, resulting in an Essay grade.
+ A written (and possibly oral) exam consisting of several parts:
- 5 online quizzes in Canvas during the course for the grade E. Passing all quizzes is sufficient for Exam grade E.
- This grade can be raised in an online final quiz/exam for grades E-C (scheduled in December, date to be determined).
This exam is not mandatory, but necessary if you would like to raise your exam grade. - Students with grade C on the written exam can choose to take an oral exam with the course examiner to possibly
raise the grade to A or B. The oral exam takes approximately 20 minutes, and is based on a discussion of a single exam
question that is revealed to the student some time before for preparation.
The online quizzes take 20 minutes and will in most cases be scheduled at the end of the ordinary lectures.
The quizzes must be done without aid from course material or other sources, and cannot be redone.
The quizzes are scheduled as follows:
Quiz 1: Sep 27 09.40 -10.00
Quiz 2: Nov 3 16.40-17.00
Quiz 3: Nov 17 16.40-17.00
Quiz 4: Dec 1 11.40-12.00
Quiz 5: to be determined
All quizzes must be passed - make-up quizzes will be scheduled Oct 18 (for Quiz 1) and Dec 21 (Quiz 2-5).
Both the Exam grade and the Essay grade (see Essay page) must be a passing grade (E or higher) to pass the course.
The final grade is then the mean of the Exam grade and the Essay grade, rounded up.
