Seminars
At each seminar session, you are actively working and discussing problems. In particular, the solutions to the homework assignments (see below) will be covered.
Homework assignments
To each seminar there are assignments that should be submitted before the seminar. The homework assignments can be found under the Modules. The solutions to the homework assignments should be submitted via Assignments in the left column.
The solutions should be well-written and detailed Links to an external site.. A person who is not familiar with the problem beforehand should be able to easily read and understand your solutions. Draw pictures, explain all the notation that is introduced, use the English language to explain how you reason.
It is encouraged to collaborate and to discuss with others when you solve the problems, but it is not allowed to copy solutions, or to submit solutions which have been written together with someone else. Collaborating on the writing part is considered cheating.
The solutions to the homework assignments should be submitted via Canvas (as a .pdf-file; submit all the solutions as one single file) under Assignments in the left column. Note that one has to be registered to the course to be able to submit the solutions. Solutions sent by email will be ignored.

Assessment
Among the submitted solutions, one of the problems is selected and graded (the same problem for all students). To pass the seminar, the selected problem has to be completely and correctly solved. One does not have to participate in the scheduled seminar in order to pass the seminar.
Bonus points
Each passed seminar gives one bonus point for the exam. In total one can get at most 6 such bonus points. These bounds points are counted towards Problem 1 on the final exam. Problem 1 on the final exam is worth 6 points in total, so if you pass all seminars, you automatically get the full score on the first problem on the exam.
The bonus points are valid throughout the academic year (January - July 2021).
