Instructions about the implementation of the material data in the FE model

The material data from obtained in the experimental lab can now be introduced in the FE model and the model compared to the experimental result.

The Young’s modulus E from the experimental lab first need to be converted to shear modulus G for implementation in LS-Dyna. Do this by assuming isotropic conditions and ν=0.45, using the following relationship
To determine the bulk modulus K use E_∞ and
Now change the viscoelastic parameters to the ones calculated from the experimental lab.
Run the simulations with these parameters.
Open the d3plot of the simulation in LS-PrePost and plot the average effective Stress (von Mises) of all disc elements.

Save the curve and recalculate it to Young’s modulus using e.g. Matlab
Additional About Hourglassing!

The model you have created includes constant stress solid elements with one integration point. These elements will result in hourglassing modes unless you add a “CONTROL_HOURGLASS” card. If you have time, try to remove this card and see what happens.
