[slide2] So, we're going to start with the introduction this morning. The material is largely a collection of things inspired by a number of books. The main book is this book by Henrik Sinnreich and Alan B. Johnston, Internet Communications Using SIP, Delivering VoIP and Multimedia Services with Session Initiation Protocol. Although the book is about ten years old, the basic principles haven't changed very much. But we'll see that there's still some changes going on in VoIP. So, although one might think that after this long period of time, who cares? It's a well-established technology. We'll see that there are a number of new things that are happening and there are a number of open issues, which hopefully some of you will find interesting enough that you'll say, ah, that'd make an interesting topic for my paper.
