SIP Web APIs

SIP Web APIs

H. Sinnreich and A. Johnston in an internet draft entitled “SIP APIs for Communications on the Web” [Sinnreich 2010] - propose a SIP API to enable web developers to easily build services which utilize SIP - see the related for on Simple SIP - which also facilitate exploitation of the possibilities of so-called rich internet applications.

[slide494] And Sinnreich and Johnston talk about SIP web APIs. You really want to make the service so simple that you can plug it together like you would any other Web 2.0 application. Right? You are all familiar with web 2.0, I hope! Right? No? The idea is that if I build a web API and Í have two things that can talk to each other, I can basically connect them. And I can build a service based upon that. And I can keep doing that and build what every I want every kind of service I want. And there are even protocols where I can go out and say is there a web service that take this as input and produces that as output, got and find it for me and now I can plug it in.
