Despite seeming like an “old” protocol, there continue to be new RFCs related to RTCP!

[slide103] And if we look at them plotted in time, here's the number, here are the years, we see that huge numbers of them got produced in recent years. Now, this to me is really amazing. But the reason is that it's more and more about metrics, more and more specific types of things like I want to transport MPEG-2 that I'm using to distribute high quality video streams or I'm looking at post-repair, how many fixes there were, all kinds of things.
So it's actually surprisingly that it's an active research area.
