“I am preparing legislation to preserve the free regulatory framework that has allowed VoIP applications to reach mainstream consumers,” Sununu, Republican from New Hampshire, said in a statement. “VoIP providers should be free from state regulation, free from the complexity of FCC regulations, free to develop new solutions to address social needs, and free to amaze consumers.”

[slide64] We mentioned earlier that deregulation didn't mean no regulations, it meant new regulations. And so a former senator from New Hampshire said, hey, what do we do? With this new technology, should we regulate it right away? And he said, no. Give it a chance to grow before we start to regulate it. Right? Because if you regulate it too much early on, it'll make it very, very hard to adapt and grow.
