Using alternative keyboards - Windows 10
In Microsoft's Windows 10 OS you can have multiple display languages and multiple keyboard mappings and you can switch between by hitting the Windows key+space bar combination or using the Input selector icon in the taskbar.
Windows taskbar
The image below shows the taskbar on my laptop. We can see (just to the left of the time) that the input language is set to Eng (English) with a SV (Swedish) keyboard mapping:
Clicking on the taskbar's input selection button reveals:
One can now either click on the button or type Windows key+space bar. Here we see the result of clicking on the button:
Now one can select one of the above and you now have that input method - hence using this as the new keyboard mapping.
Windows key+space bar combination
It is also possible to change inputs by hitting the Windows key+space bar combination as shown below:
Understanding the key mapping for a given input method selection
To know what characters are input by a given key use the Windows On-Screen keyboard. The figure below shows the keyboard mapping for the Unites States-Internation keyboard. It has been used to enter a number of characters (such as ç and Ç) into a Quiz with a "Fill in the blank" answer.
Using the Char map
Another way to enter lots of characters is via the Windows Accessory Character Map - it gives you a popup and then you select what you want and then paste into the answer window.
